I am currently on a discussion board in canvas and cannot figure out how to attach a word doc into the discussion that also has a video that I uploaded. How do I attach or upload the word doc to my submission?
I am a student. The attach option has not been enabled for this discussion.
I had to upload the word doc into the files of the discussion/course and
insert the link.
Thank you for your help!

Hi, Charity McCain Welcome to the Canvas Community! To be clear, did you upload the video to the discussion reply as an attachment? If so, that's the reason you cannot upload the Word file; as explained in How do I attach a file to a discussion reply as a student? , you can only upload one attachment to a reply. You would need to create a second reply to submit the Word doc.
Rather than attaching the video file, did you record the video directly in Canvas using the built-in media recording tool? If that's the case, and you don't see the Attach link at the bottom of the reply, that means your instructor has disabled students' ability to attach files to discussion replies.
Another possible scenario is that you recorded the video externally and have attached the file. If the external tool housing the video has an embed capability, you can harvest the embed code, paste it into the HTML Editor of the discussion reply, and will still be able to attach the Word doc—again, assuming your instructor has not disabled file attachments to replies.
So there are a number of variables in this situation. Please let us know which one might work for you.

If you are a student and the Attach option is not there, the instructor has not enabled it for the course. A work around could be to upload it to Google Drive and insert a link instead.
Hope this helped!
