Blank answer correct for Fill-In-The-Blank Question?

I'm constructing a grammar quiz in which I'm asking questions about sample sentences. I'd like to ask the same questions about every sentence (What is the subject? What is the verb? What is the direct object?), but sometimes there is no direct object. If I simply leave out the question, the student doesn't have to demonstrate their knowledge of whether there is or isn't one. Is it possible to create a fill-in-the-blank question for which the correct answer is leaving it blank? (The only other alternative I can see is telling them specifically to enter the word "none" if there isn't one.)
