Joette, have you published your course? If you haven't published your class then you'll normally see this error message. Once you publish your course you should then be able to send a message to your students.
Hi Joette Rockow - brilliant question. And such a handy tool to be able to message single students, small goups or the whole class.
here's the guide. How do I use Conversations as an instructor?
I'm doing all of that. When I try to send the message, I get an "invalid recipents" message.
I hope your recipients become 'valid' with Kona's tip.
I'll just send them letters through the U.S. mail. That will be faster and easier.
I finally figured it out. While I 100% appreciate your suggestions and help, it wasn't anything you all suggested nor was it associated with the "help" links you sent to me. BUT THANK YOU for trying to help! At 9:30 last night, I was finally able to reach out to my students. Yay!
I'm sure you're wondering what I did. I couldn't even really tell you. I tried so many combination of things including changing the NAME of my course which helped because then I could tell which of the 3 sections listed on Canvas was actually my spring section and not my fall sections. But it didn't have to do with publishing my course or making it live. It already was. Hopefully, I will be able to replicate whatever I did when I start using Canvas for more classes in the future.
That's very mysterious but good news Joette . And a huge relief for you.
If you ever do find out what it was would you be able to share it here? I'm sure others will learn from that.
