I'd like my students to hear a song when they open the Home page. Is that possible? If so, how?
Hi Vanessa Alleyne
So, if a music file was embedded on a Canvas page, and that embed was set to play on open, and that Canvas page was made your course Home page, it just might work. It works for video files, so why not audio. I think it would just depend on the format and how embedded.
No time to test right now, but I will share this with the Canvas Developers group where there are some fairly smart folks willing to help.
Thanks, I appreciate it!
YouTube Videos embed great in Canvas, and so does SoundCloud!
Here are the instructions I give my students for embedding SoundCloud in their blogs, and same instructions would work in the Canvas Page editor:
Online Course Wiki / Embed Soundcloud
Yep, YouTube works great, and I have also been trying to find a strictly audio file to test - Mp3 or something. Never worked with those before, so wanted to test.
Thanks for helping, my friend!
Glad to help, Kelley L. Meeusen If the mp3 is one for which you have the rights (like an mp3 you recorded yourself), SoundCloud is AWESOME. They have the best embedding, and you can have I think up to three hours of audio with the free service, although I don't remember the exact amount for sure.
Lots of people use SoundCloud for podcasting; one of my students turned her project for my class into a podcast for her other class which I thought was so cool!
Podcast – Why We Hate Humans
It's about the work of a dwarf feypologist who studies all kinds of fey creatures like elves, trolls, etc. (The student herself is from Iceland, which makes it even more fabulous.)
