Is there a speaking/talking feature for students who are blind or low vision?
jen, not built into Canvas, but the tools these students already use like Jaws and Natural Reader work great with Canvas.
what about those students with low vision using Ipad without voice over and magnification accessibility, however struggles to read long passages and questions on Canvas.

jen, have you looked at the built in accessibility functionality on iPads? I did a quick search and found the following - Vision Accessibility - iPad - Apple. If you scroll through this page you'll see a lot of built in options that should help your students will their ipads in general, not just with Canvas.
Hope this helps! Kona
yes we use all the accessibility options on the Ipad...was seeing if Canvas can put in their own speaking tool so documents that are uploaded there and accessed by students can give them the ability to have it read to them.
My question is more of a request Canvas programmers should think about. We have the visual access under control with Ipad accessibility....Canvas needs to have more accessibility options for students with special needs.
I am interested in the areas Canvas could be more accessible for the students you work with. The more specific you are, the better it is for us to compile these ideas and present to our teams. We definitely aim to provide a software that helps everyone. For anyone else that may read this, please feel free to provide your thoughts as well! please reply with Trevor Enders... or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
we had trouble navigating with the speaking software Jaws for blind computer users (PC).
Also, my other student who is low vision also has difficulties using the Canvas app on her Ipad b/c the dashboard tiles are so small, you cannot enlarge them and there is so much wasted space..where the laptop view is so much better (the tiles take up the whole page for visual access).
