I am taking online courses from two different schools that both use Canvas. Is there any way to combine my two canvas accounts so I don't have to log in to them separately each day?
Riley, the short answer is no. Each Canvas environment is different for each school. This is in terms of even how they have you log in, what things students are allowed to do, and how courses are handled.
Yet, from the Canvas App there is an easy way to switch back and forth - Go to the "switch user" link. When you click on this it will ask for the name of the school. Enter this and go through the steps to set up thing for the new school. The process is pretty quick and I’ve done it myself!
Hi Riley James
OMG! I really hate to contradict Kona Jones, but this can be done; although, it is discouraged!
I actually have my account merged with about 8 or 10 (maybe more, I have never counted) other college accounts in our state system, our State Board's account, two or three college accounts outside of our state system, and at least one Instructure account.
Granted, when I first created my account more than six years ago, there was an option for this. Also, when our state CTC system first acquired Canvas, we created trust agreements between all of our member schools to facilitate this process. Not sure if that option is still available, though.
I am having trouble finding info on this in our Community beyond asking Canvas Support to do it for you. So perhaps that ability was taken away, or "hidden". I suspect hidden, because any time I am enrolled in anything in another instance of Canvas, it pops up in my main instance. Anyways, here is a link to a two-year old discussion about this, and a user's CSM was able to hook him up.T https://community.canvaslms.com/message/67967-re-how-do-i-log-in-for-multiple-schools?commentID=67967#comment-67967
