Inbox message formatting

I would like to suggest that the formatting of messages in the Inbox tool be formatted exactly as they are typed in. I type them just like an email, using blank lines between paragraphs. However, once I hit send, the blank lines are removed, and the sentence at the end of one paragraph is glued to the start of the next paragraph (not even a space). This makes reading the messages very difficult. (I teach professional writing, so this kind of stuff matters in my course content, and this tool throws that all out the window, like it doesn't matter.)

I have been told by my university that Canvas Inbox should not be used as/like email. This was a surprise to me, and it seems to be for other users (instructors and students) as well. Why not use it like/in place of email? I have no way of clicking one box and sending a mass email to my whole class in my university email. Blackboard has a way to send email from inside the system
