How do my students submit a voice recording as an assignment? I teach foreign language and I need to hear speaking assessments but it is so hard to hear everyone in class.
Hello there, Sophie Aceves Welcome to the Canvas Community. Thank you for posting your question. From an instructor's standpoint, you first need to set up your assignment in your course so that students can submit an audio recording to you. Here is a Guide that explains how to do this:
How do I create an online assignment?
You'll want to make sure the "Media Recordings" option is selected when you are setting up your assignment details.
Then, once your assignment is set up to accept submissions from your students, they will follow the steps outlined in this Guide:
How do I submit a media file as an assignment submission?
I hope this information will be of help to you, Sophie. Please let members of the Community know if you have any additional questions about this...thanks!
Thank you! I will try that. I had done the teacher part as you said but maybe the sound files the students tried to send were too large.
I have colleagues who demonstrate how to use Audacity or GarageBand to record a short podcast. Then, students save those to Google drive, adjust the sharing permissions, and submit the URL to the Canvas assignment instead of using Media Submission. That way, there is more flexibility with large uploads and shares.
