How do I link two sections of a course so that changes made in one are reflected in both?
Hi kate watt , and Welcome to the Canvas Community!
Technically, you cannot really "link" two sections as you describe, but you can cross-list. Learn more at
If you find that you are unable to do this, that would be because your Canvas Admin has restricted this permission. Many schools do, and ours is one. This is done for FERPA reasons, and you can learn more at New FERPA requirements for cross-listed courses! So in that case, I would check with your Canvas Admins to get policy guaidance and help with the cross-listing.
Hello kate watt Thank You for posting your question. I would agree with everything that Kelley L. Meeusen has stated.
A couple other options for you to maybe look at in the future would be to use Canvas Commons or Blueprint courses. The concept of "update once, distribute to many" would be available in both Commons and Blueprint courses...but they each have their own unique way of how content is shared, edited, and distributed. These resources may be of help.

How do I view updates to resources I previously imported from Commons?
