Peter, greetings! I'm not sure if you realized it or not, but this is the global community of all Canvas users. What you are asking for sounds like something specific for your school, so you would need to contact someone at your school directly to get help with this.
Thanks for the prompt reply. Based on what little I can find, I couldn't
As a product that primarily tracks assignments and grades for teachers and
students; wouldn't a report card be one of the most basic functionalities?
No, report cards would not be a basic functionality of a learning management system. That would be the job of the student information system that the school uses.
Peter, I partially agree. At the least, it should "sort" between assignments, quizzes, and attendance scores, so that one could pull the numbers from each "grading element" onto a spreadsheet, let's say. I don't see anyway to sort between those 3 elements, anyway.
"Grades" are not just the sum of all scores. A student's grades are sorted by elements, with each element given a weighting. So if a parent wants an "interim" report (it always seems to be a crisis), one has to manually enter the elements in a spreadsheet and create a progress report from there. If Canvas would independently-tally assignments, quizzes, and attendance grades, a parent could get a good idea from that. Semester progress reports could then be prepared in the usual manner, with weighting given to each element as desired.
