How can students see my feedback in turnitin through canvas
Hi Peter and welcome to the Canvas Community! I was testing this and left comments/feedback but checking from the student's view couldn't see the feedback. What I found is that the release date for comments is an option in the TurnItIn settings itself. To see these options, first create an assignment and under the external tools option select that you would like TurnItIn. When saved you should see a screen like this with a menu for TII settings:
After selected, choose the option to view settings:
This is where I was having trouble as at first the feedback release date had not passed.
After the feedback release date has passed, a student can go back to the assignment and click on the assignment link to view the document and feedback:
I will mention that if you would like students to see their similarity report as well, you may have to select this in the "optional settings" where the following option can be chosen.
I hope this helps but if this doesn't do what you hope it will, let us know!
I don't see any of those as turnitin is is not an external tool but an integrated part of canvas for us. There is no feedback release date offered.
That is interesting Peter. I'll admit I am not an expert in the integration between Canvas and TurnItIn, but I checked out the TII website and found this document about two ways that the tool can be integrated within Canvas, External tool vs. Plagiarism Framework. I see that under "PeerMark" it states that this is possible as an LTI but not what it refers to as "Plagiarism Framework". Maybe this is why you do not see the options I mentioned. Is there someone at your institution that you can ask about the integration method and determine if this is what is causing the problem and if so, if there is a reason why one type of integration was chosen over another?
Peter, I wonder if your school is still using the legacy Turnitin API, which Turnitin is going to deprecate but may still be supporting. The API does not afford access to many of Turnitin's features. Eric's advice holds: ask your local admin for additional guidance.
