I hid some links on my course navigation and find they still appear on the student app.
I logged out of the app and logged in again to no avail. Is this a bug or is there a trick.
I think you answered your own question, yes, your teacher privileges allow you to see all the pages regardless of the app/browser you're using. I created a Student version of myself (using gmail) and enroll that into my courses to test in the Student App. I never use the student app with my teacher/admin credentials.

I don't use the mobile app much, but I did notice that the results were cached, probably to improve performance. If you give it time, it should remedy itself.
If you get in a super big hurry, there is a way to clear the cache, at least on the student version on an iPad (that's all I can test with). You can tap the screen three times quickly using four fingers. Unfortunately, that didn't clear it.
However, closing the app completely and then re-opening it did reset it for me. I didn't have to log out, I just had to close it, swipe it off the active app list, and then reopen it. I didn't even have to clear the cache.
Thanks James, none of those worked for me. I did Reset Cache on Next Launch from the IPad settings, that didn't either.
I have an instructor role not a student role in Canvas. Maybe that's messing up the student app. When I login to the Teacher app, the said hidden links are shown as hidden.
