My professor has sent me an attachment via conversation and I cannot find or see it. Any suggestions? She has sent it 3 times
Hi Heather Hefley Welcome to the Canvas Community. This is a bit of a known issue IF your instructor sent it from her external email account. Here is the scenario where this can occur:
I recommend that you ask the instructor (again....sorry!) to send the attachment either to your own email account outside of Canvas OR to add the attachment via a message in her own Canvas Inbox, as outlined here, from the instructor's perspective: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-12742-4152719684 .
To help out your "case," as it were--and to show that both of you are not really to blame for this occurring--you both may want to reference (and vote up!) this Feature Idea, where this is pointed out: https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/4746-attachments-to-inbox-from-external-email .
I hope this helps, Heather, or at least explains why it may have occurred. Good luck with things!
The messages that come from Canvas have this note included:
You can reply to this message in Canvas by replying directly to this email. If you need to include an attachment, please log in to Canvas and reply through the Inbox.
While that (c|sh)ould be worded more strongly (attachments to a reply will not get delivered, you must log into Canvas ...), I wouldn't completely hold the faculty member harmless. Of course, they don't have to log in, they could send it through regular email. But if you explain everything, then pretty soon we have a disclaimer longer than the message (much like pharmaceutical television ads) and people won't read it.
