How do I move files between courses? I am given the option to move a file within a course, but not to move to another course ... Many thanks!
Hello Ciarán Ó Gealbháin and welcome to the Community! The easiest way to do this, provided you are an instructor in both courses, is to use the course import tool (see What is the Course Import Tool?). Rather than copying the entire course from one shell to another, after selecting the course where the file currently is located you can choose to only import certain content and select the file(s) you would like copied. Another option is to export the course content from one course (see How do I export a Canvas course?) and then import this into the new course ( How do I import a Canvas course export package?). Again, here you can select particular content to import although the course import tool option is fewer steps.
I hope this helps and best wishes!
Many thanks, Eric, new to this – apoligies, you must have been asked this 1000 times!
I'll give it a go.
Many thanks again,
Dr Ciarán Ó Gealbháin

Hello Ciarán Ó Gealbháin Welcome to the Canvas Community! I have gone ahead and marked Eric Werth's response as "Correct" because he has given you excellent information on how to copy just your files from one course to another. The process he gave you to select specific content can also be found in this Guide: How do I select specific content as part of a course import? I hope this extra bit of information will be of help to you.
You are welcome Ciarán Ó Gealbháin and no apologies needed! Again, welcome to the Community and good luck getting familiar with Canvas and its tools. Canvas is the best LMS I have used and I hope you find it user-friendly.
