Curriculum

I've been working with our Instructional Services team to create a storage course for our Elementary Curriculum. I thought I had a grasp on the design flow they were looking for until they said they wanted to have a "course within a course."

So....I was thinking we could make each course public and create links to each individual grade level course via a master curriculum course. Anyone have other ideas? 

Any advice on designing this course would be GREATLY appreciated!

I would go a different route. My reasoning is that Canvas is not meant to be storage, so it will likely be cumbersome to use in that way.

I would recommend using the Canvas Commons. You can create your learning objects (Courses, assignments, quizzes, etc.) and then show your faculty how to import/download content from there as well as how to upload if they are contributing to the repository.

You can make content available to the entire community or only to your school.

I'm finding the term "Elementary Curriculum" troubling. It's not one thing. First of all, curricula are grade-level based. A 1st grade curriculum would be separate from a 2nd grade one. Then there's the matter of subject. A social studies curriculum should not live with a math one. It sounds like your Instructional Services is trying to shove everything into one big box, when what you really need is several separate boxes (if you'll pardon the analogy). I do recommend keeping things separate by grade and subject.

I see what you mean,  @nr2522 ‌. This post gave me some ideas, so I thought the design community might be able to take it to the next level.
