How do I initiate a site for my fall course?
Hi Mark Hurst
If you are using a paid, hosted Canvas instance, this is typically done by your institution automatically through an integration with your school's student information system on a schedule determined by your school. I would recommend talking with your Canvas Admin/Support folks.
Some schools do permit teachers to create courses, but this is usually for the creation of sandboxes, not section shells. If your school has granted this permission, you can learn how at How do I start a new course from the Dashboard as an instructor?
If you are using the Free-for-Teachers (FFT) version of Canvas, I would suggest simply creating a new FFT shell, and performing a course copy. Learn how at How do I copy content from another Canvas course using the Course Import tool?
Thanks, Kelley. I thought I could do it on my own, but have contacted the administrator at the college to set it up. I’m looking to import content from last fall to edit and add resources.
