How do I change what the students see, as in files etc under Home? at the moment they can see my files, though I've individually unpublished them.
Sarah, if you've unpublished individual files or folders, then students should not be able to view them. Here's a guide that explains how to hide/restrict files from students so you can double-check your settings - How do I restrict files and folders to students in Canvas? After checking this, I'd recommend trying "Student View" to see if you can view hidden/unpublished files - How do I view a course as a test student using Student View? If you are still seeing the files after this, then I'd contact Canvas Support to help sort out the issue. To do this, click on the Help link in Canvas and Report a Problem.
Yet, I will say that I normally recommend to my faculty that they completely hide the Files page from students and instead put any files they want students to access in their Modules. This seems to make things easier for the Instructor and the students. Here are guides that explain how to do this: How do I manage Course Navigation links? & How do I add assignment types, pages, and files as module items?
Hope this helps! Kona
