I'm having trouble populating my courses on the Dashboard.
Sharon, without an actual screenshot, I'm guessing here—but I suspect that you need to change your Dashboard view to Card View rather than the Recent Activity stream. To do that, follow the instructions in the Change Dashboard View section of How do I use the Dashboard as an instructor?
Does that help?
Normally courses are added to your course list at the beginning of the semester. Each school does have the ability to control when the courses appear. If you have confirmed that your courses have been added to Canvas, then you may need to check the Courses > All Courses link. This may also help How do I customize my Courses list as a student?
I'm a professor, trying to populate my classes in Canvas's Dashboard.
Sharon Benjamin Welcome to the Canvas Community! Robbie has given you the correct instructions for adding a course to the Canvas Dashboard. Can you elaborate on what you mean by "populate"? Are you trying to add students? Or course content? Or both? Are you able to see the courses, but not edit them? More detail would allow us to assist you.
Perhaps, I'm using the incorrect language. I want to be able to see my class "shells" when I click on the Dashboard in Canvas. When I click on "Dashboard," the following is what I see.
No Recent Messages
You don't have any messages to show in your stream yet. Once you begin participating in your courses you'll see this stream fill up with messages from discussions, grading updates, private messages between you and other users, etc.
