My modules are set up as Weeks. Is there a way to sync the cumulative week grade as shown in grades into a grading system (Skyward)? Or can you only sync each individual assignment to Skyward?
If Skyward works like most SIS's then you will only be able to bring in the individual grades and the final grade.
Instructor Help: Using Skyward in Canvas
How do I sync grades to Skyward?
Here is what is in the Skyward users guide:
Please be aware of the following behaviors in the Gradebook:
Hi, Robin King Welcome to the Canvas Community! After reading Robbie's excellent advice, it made me think of the little bit of experience I had with PowerSchool. The SIS doesn't sync modules, but does sync assignment categories—which are analogous to assignment groups in Canvas. So in the event that you have not only divided your course into weeks by module but also into weeks by assignment group (on the Assignments page of your course), you would then be able to accomplish the desired grade sync, but only if you first create the corresponding categories in Skyward (which is how it works in PowerSchool as well).
Last year the behaviors stated above were true. However this year we have noticed a couple of things that are different. First, comments are being passed backed to Skyward. Second, things marked missing in Canvas is setting the Missing flag in Skyward. It seems that if a teacher does not change the missing status in Canvas after adding a grade and re-syncing, the grade still calculates in Skyward as a zero even though the grade displayed in Skyward is correct. We have had several instances of grades being wrong on progress reports and are having a difficult time confirming this conclusion. Has anyone else see these odd behaviors with the new gradebook?
