In setting up an online Canvas quiz, is there a feature which guards against academic honesty? How to confirm the actual student is taking the quiz rather than collaborating or having someone else take it for them?

Proctorio is a feature-rich, cost-effective online proctoring service used by the California Community College system. It integrates easily into Canvas quizzes (just click "use Proctorio" in the quiz setup), with simple setup or make it as customized as you like. There are other services, but this one produces very credible results is easy to use.
Hello, Rhonda.
You might find Kona Jones's "Quiz Settings to Maximize Security" article helpful.

Hi Rhonda Cary
There is not a built-in feature in Canvas for this, but our school uses Respondus Lockdown Browser/Monitor for this purpose. It is a paid third-party tool that integrates quite nicely with Canvas, is very easy for instructors and students to use, and it is very reasonably priced - I hope they didn't see me say that, then jack up their price!
I find it to be the best product of its kind out there. Others may have other ideas.
