Does anyone have suggestions for how to name pages?
Sure, Kona. As I understand it, the guidance for page names I've received is that students should always know where they are. So including the Week # and the Item # in that week is important to do. For instance, a page from the week is titled "Week 1 Item 1 -- Reading strategies." This sort of naming convention works well until I have to expand or compress a course. At that point, I have to rename pages and most of the course links break. This means I'm looking at several hours of mindless maintenance that I'd like to avoid.
I realize that Canvas uses page names as part of the URL, so I'm going to be stuck with the maintenance if I rename the pages, but it seems like there should be another way around.

Paul, ah, I see where you are coming from and my advice might not be the "best," but it's worked pretty well for me so take it with a grain of salt. :-)
I have one main course information/resource page for each week that's at the top of each of my Weekly Modules. Ex: Week 1 Information or Week 1 Resources. From this page, I then add links to other pages with the specific course content. Ex: Data Dictionary, Descriptive Statistics. Each of these pages would have links to handouts and video for that topic. That's it, nothing long-named or specific to the week other than the first page. I do this to (1) Keep my Module short and sweet, (2) Make it easier to rearrange content from semester to semester - no need to rename things, and (3) make it easier to link to these resources from assignments. I like to add the direct link to the content page(s) that is relevant to an assignment and this makes it super easy.
Hope this helps and I look forward to other people adding their thoughts and ideas! I'm always looking for ways to improve my own work/processes. :-)

Hi Kona,
Great idea.
I just finished a conversation with the OEI guru on my campus, and here's what we came up with.
Instead of including the week # in the page title, put it as the first line of each page with an h2 designation. That way, the students can see where they are in terms of the class but the page titles do not have to change from semester to semester.
Cheers,
Paul K.
Paul, greetings! I'd say a lot depends on your purpose and what you are trying to accomplish/use them for. Can you give us a little insight so we can offer more customized ideas/examples?
Thanks! Kona
