Or is this a trick question and are they the same thing? How does Quizzes.Next compare to the standard quiz feature built inside of Canvas? And are people using New Quizzes instead of the regular quizzes that are built inside of Canvas? Thanks so much.
They are the same thing—just a different name. New Quizzes will be THE Quiz tool going forward. No improvements will be made to the current Quizzing tool and all developments/updates going to New Quizzes. This issues has raised a few comments similar to yours - When Quizzes.Next going to be replacing Quizzes?
Having two quiz tools around is not great for training purposes or going forward (especially if some staff are comfortable/regular users of the old quiz tool. This link compares the features in both - New Quizzes Feature Comparison . I would suggest that if you are starting with Quizzing you stick with New Quizzes. Unfortunately, there is no way ( I know of) of turning off the legacy Quiz tool!
Whilst I have been quite critical of some aspects of the new tool (in terms of limited improvements and parity - 17 Features I wish were in Quizzes.next) it makes sharing quizzes (via Question banks) with other colleagues REALLY EASY to do. This is something we need to be doing much more of and a BIG DRAW when encouraging more staff to use the platform. The Canvas Help Guides are very good and I have made this ridiculous long step by step guide covering pretty much all of the features if you want more.
The plan is to have JUST ONE quiz tool - New Quizzes sometime in 2020.
