At the top of the discussion board it shows the avatar/name of the author. Is there a way to change this if the person who built the page is not the instructor?

Currently, there is not a way to change the author of a discussion. There is a feature idea here Allow discussion owner to be changed and a lot more discussion here Author and posted at in discussions from a content copy .
