Has anyone integrated Piazza in their class? Thoughts? Pros? Cons?
Hello TINA TORRES...
We have the "Piazza" LTI app enabled for all our staff at our Technical College. However, I'm not sure that anyone is actually using it right now. When we first started our partnership with Instructure about 1 1/2 years ago, we had a sandbox course set up in Canvas, and I used "Piazza" as a way for my team to communicate with Instructure staff answering common setup questions. I posted questions for Instructure inside of "Piazza", and then they either replied or I pasted in a reply from an e-mail ... then marking it as an "instructor response". In a way, it kind of operated similar to how this Canvas Community interface works...where you can ask questions, get responses, mark them as "good question" or "good answer", etc.
Other things you can do include creating a poll, creating a question, creating a note (if you don't need an answer), posting to the entire class or just to individual students or the instructor, etc. You can also see statistics about the postings as well as see how many questions are still unread, how many are yet unanswered, and how many are still unresolved...again, kind of like some of the things you can do here in the Community.
Here are a few websites for you to check out about the LTI tool:

Hope this helps!!!
I've tried Piazza and like it but don't find the need for it. It does have a very nice integration as Chris Hofer describes above. It's pretty easy to setup so why not give it a try
