Yes, I'm a student. I followed one set of instructions but got stuck at

authentication. No matter what I tried, I got stuck in a loop.

...it sounds like your instructor has provided  students with instructions for using an external blogging site (Canvas does not have a native blogging feature). This community isn't able to answer course-specific questions such as these, so please contact your instructor directly to get additional assistance. The quickest way to do that is through the Canvas Inbox (How do I send a message to a user in a course in the Inbox as a student?).
