"Access Denied" to Canvas File Link as Part of Assignment

Hello,

In one of my new online classes that began this morning, we need to read a particular document in a file, however, when I click on it, I get the "Access Denied" message and locked graphic. Does the instructor need to personally grant me access to that file or could there be a computer setting on my computer interfering? I am not having any trouble in my other online class accessing anything, nor am I any of the other areas for this new class that the instructor has asked us to review.

Welcome to the Canvas Community!!!

Yes, you will need to contact your instructor and let them know what you are seeing.  This "Access Denied" message basically means that the file is not available to you for some reason.  It could be part of a locked module or it could simply just be locked in the Files area. Contacting your instructor is your best bet.
