I am trying to add in a section to the grade book manually but am unsure how to do that. Is there a simple way to add that manually, apply a column and enter in students grade all by hand?

Thanks for sharing your question. Basically the gradebook columns are fed by creating "Assignments" (either discussions, quizzes or assignments). If you just want to a column to enter grades manually, you would create an assignment and set it to "no submission."
How do I create assignment columns for non-submission assignments in the Gradebook?
There is another way through excel csv file, but I don't think it's more simple than the option mentioned above. Let us know if that helps!
