I used to be able to edit a video when I did a screencast before uploading to Studio. That is no longer there and it now only gives the option to redo the video entirely rather than edit. What happened to this feature?
Good afternoon, Jennifer Hough Thank You for posting your question. Editing a screen capture in Canvas Studio should still be possible...but it's a pretty strange way of getting back to it. Please check out this Feature Idea I had created a while back which explains the complicated process: Quicker Way to Access Screen to Edit Studio (formerly Arc) Videos. It is located in the Cold Storage area here in the Community, so you may have to request access to this area before you can view my Feature Idea...which sadly, didn't get much traction.
I hope this will be of help to you, Jennifer. Please let me know if you have any questions about this...thanks!
Chris, thanks for the suggestion, but I don't have any of those options available. When I click done after recording (starting from Studio with a screencast), it only shows Redo (where it used to show Edit) or Cancel, both of which only allow me to delete my recording and start over, or upload it to Studio where I won't be able to edit it either. I have attached screenshots showing this. All of this is recent. I edited a video as recently as last week!
Hi Jennifer Hough Thank You for the reply. This may sound like kind of a strange question...but are you recording your screen captures all on the same computer? Here's why I ask... A while back I discovered that the recordings are actually stored on your local computer...not out on a remote server or the cloud. For example, take a look at this screen shot from my personal computer:
When I hover my mouse over the "Documents \ Screen Recorder" text at the top left corner of the screen, I see a path on my laptop's C: drive to where these recordings are stored. Next, I signed in to my computer at work remotely through our VDI (virtual desktop) software and tried the same steps I had outlined in my Feature Idea I linked in my previous response. When I got to the screen that shows my available recordings, I actually saw 10 Recordings available to me, and the path name was different...because I'm was logged in to a different computer. When logged in remotely to my computer at work, I do not have access to the two short recordings you see pictured above. So, that might be the case for you as well...if you are, in fact, using two separate computers to record your screen captures. I'm not sure if this will apply in your case...but something definitely to consider as a possibility.
Hope this helps, Jennifer.
