When I recorded my speech, it's in a format that is not supported by Canvas (.mts file). The professor said I could post it to YouTube and then embed it. However, the only instructions I've found for embedding with rich content involve a text box. For this assignment, we have to submit the assignment as either a file upload or media recording. I've messaged my professor but have not heard back from him yet. Thank you for your help.
Hello Joshua Summerhill
Nice Work on your resourcefulness on finding these forums. Normally these forums are designed for instructors, but since the admins haven't taken this question down, why not answer it?
In your situation, you essentially have 2 out-of-the-box options:
Option 1 may seem seem like an impertinent move, but if the instructor told you to upload the video to an external website, how else are you supposed to share the video?
Option 2 involves using a video converter like Handbrake to convert the original .mts video file into one of Canvas' supported video media types. The file must be smaller than 500MB to use the Canvas media uploader, so try picking the "Vimeo YouTube 720p30" preset from the Presets menu in Handbrake.
