Student View & Peer Review

Here's what I want to do: I want to have all my students peer review the same doc/file.

• Can I "submit" the doc in the student view, and then manually assign all my students to peer review the test student's submission?
• If not, is there another way to have student annotating and clicking on the rubric to review the same doc/file?

Hi  @dj_hawkins  Thank You for your question.

One way comes to mind and that is using Collaborations as a way to have students collaborating on the same doc.

Thanks for replying, but no, Collaborations would not do what I need.

I need:

1. students to all work with the same doc, but do so independently without seeing each others work
2. students to have access to the doc annotation tools (used to be called Croc-o-doc, but I think the branding was stripped, so I don't know what it's called now)
3. student work easily gradable within SpeedGrade, so I too, can have access to the doc annotation tools.

Does any other solution come to mind?

If your school allows it perhaps you could use a fake student account. Your class could peer review there?

Does Canvas allow me to 1) use a fake student as part of a peer review assignment (I thought that wasn't possible); and 2) assign every students to review the same exact student?

Hi DJ -

Could you work with your Canvas Admin to create a student account for you that uses a secondary email? Some days, I have one account signed-in and then use an incognito window or guest window to sign into my "student" account.

For example, in my course, Kristin Lundstrum is the teacher and K Lundstrum is just another student in the course (who doesn't always submit/participate). I let the students know the difference and why I'm enrolled twice. They appreciate the clarification!

That student account is handy for checking the student view in the Canvas Student app as well.

Before the semester ends and grades are retrieved, I make them inactive in the course so the grade reports don't' include a "bonus" student.
