Discussion Prompt Partial Disappearing Act

I set up Discussion Boards. One particular Discussion Board, there are three responses that show that students clearly saw the questions to answer, but my original post, as I am looking at it, now shows only the rubric and not the questions. Strange. So, I click edit...and the questions are there. To be sure, I copied them, and pasted them in again, figuring one or the other would be there when I hit Save. No, they are not.
I pasted them in a Reply. There they are. I hit Save. No, they are not.
The rest of the original post, the rubric was there in both edit and save modes, but the questions refused to show in Save, although, as I note above, they must have been visible at some point for the first responding students to have seen them.
I am afraid I'll have to go back through all the Discussions in five classes to be sure this isn't occurring elsewhere.
Anyone know why part of a Discussion Set-Up would be visible and then not, and why it would be in Edit mode, but not Save?
