Trouble importing quiz from another course

I am breaking up an existing quiz into 2 quizzes for my current course. I imported the quiz once, renamed it, and then took out the questions I didn't need. When I attempt to import it again so I can create the other quiz using the other half of the questions, it will not import. There is always an error. I have tried using both a direct import and creative commons. My suspicion is that there is something in the file that makes Canvas think it is the same quiz, but then it errors out because the name is different. How can I get this to work? I do not want to re-create this quiz. In general, it is extremely frustrating that quizzes cannot be copied or duplicated in some way.
