Consent needed for data collection?

Hi Canvas folks - I'd like to use data gathered from quizzes my students take on Canvas for the purposes of analysis and subsequent improvement of course delivery. Do I need my students' consent to gather this data and utilise it?

As far as I know you do not need to get consent.

 I ask my students regularly to contribute ideas to improve the online learning environment. This not only improves the experiences for all concerned but helps create more of a community atmosphere and increases engagement.
