Broken Images in Google Cloud Assignment

I have a teacher who created a Google Doc with images and attached it to a Google Cloud Assignment. In Canvas some students are reporting that they only see a grey box with an exclamation point icon inside it instead of the image. When the teacher shares the document directly with them from her Google Drive, the images load. She did say she dragged the images from her desktop instead of inserting, so my inclination is there is some permissioning issue, but not every student is running into this issue, and I was able to preview the document in Canvas without any problems. Any thoughts?

Do you know anything about the web browsers being used by students who don't see the images?  If a common thread is that they are all using Safari I suspect that may be the issue.  In a recent update to Safari there is a new security settings which can prevent images from displaying if they are hosted on a different site and somehow use cookies.  With Canvas quizzes I've seen this issue when images are embedded and a student uses Safari.  A possible solution is to use Chrome or Firefox, or go into the Safari preferences, security and uncheck the box to Prevent cross-site tracking.

Thanks  @rmurchshafer ‌, that was my original thought, but they confirmed the student was having the issue in Chrome. I tried changing my 3rd party cookie settings in Chrome, which presented issues when Chrome 80 came out, but I wasn't able to reproduce the problem that
