Best Practice for Cancelled Courses

Hello:

I am inquiring to see how other institutions handle cancelled courses within Canvas.  From time to time classes are cancelled due to low enrollment or other reasons.  I was wondering if there is a best practice for how to address those cancellations.  Our SIS does not delete the course automatically.  Is it best to just leave it alone, delete it, conclude it, or other?  Leaving them as is is okay, but when running statistics for the number of unpublished courses at the beginning of the semester, these courses need to be factored into the data.

For this task, we periodically run the Unused Courses report in Account > Settings > Reports

Then we have a small API script that sets the course deletion event.

If your courses includes content, that weren't used, we'd probably have to use a different data source or report. Maybe Unpublished Courses? The API and Canvas Data would allow you to define parameters if a report isn't available.

I have the script in Python, and can provide it in Ruby.

Today is busy, summer school starts tomorrow, but I could probably assist next week if that's helpful?

Thank you for the reply.  I am familiar with that report.  I have deleted unused courses in the past but was wondering if others did the same or if there was some reason unknown to me as to why I should not delete them.  Seeing others do the same helps to reassure that most likely I'm on the right road.  I would gladly accept a copy of the script if you are willing to share.  No hurry.
