how do  instructor and student use the RCE for word counts?

Hello  @hoffmanns ...

When you are editing content within a Canvas course, the word count shows at the bottom right corner of the RCE (Rich Content Editor).  The word count will show for both the current RCE and the New RCE.  See the screen shots in these two Guides:
