How do I assign the group activity if students are absent from a team? I have removed their name, but do they just access the assignments page and complete on their own???
Señora Goodenough, if you are using the group feature for an assignment each student has to be a member of the group to participate. If you have a student that wasn't there to participate with a group then create a new group for that student - they would be the only person in the group.
Kona Jones, this may not be accurate.
This summer, I had groups for projects in Finite Mathematics and the students self-selected themselves into my pre-created groups. Those who chose to work alone just didn't join a group and everything was okay. They were listed by their name in SpeedGrader rather than by their group name.
I did not have to put them into a group at all.
Wonder if something has changed or if it depends on the type of assignment. I know in the past we've had problems where students couldn't access assignments because they hadn't been added to a group; normally it was a student who had joined the class after the instructor had already created the groups.
