Speed grader froze

I'm grading an assignment and submitting comments for 25 students' writing, but I haven't yet entered grades. After submitting comments on close to half of them I got an error message, "Oops, something went wrong", etc. and the latest comment froze in the "submitting" stage. Therefore, I can't clear the comments screen or work on any other students' work. I know from experience that if I quit Canvas or sign out, all my comments are likely to be gone when I return. Is there any way to bypass or unfreeze this screen without quitting?

On an earlier occasion, I tried to grade only certain questions of a quiz but didn't post total grades before quitting for the evening. Of course I learned the hard way that this loses everything you have entered. The beta version of grading one question wouldn't have been a workaround because I had already checked shuffle, so it wasn't always the same question on the quiz. These elements of Canvas are very frustrating in my first semester working with it.
