I want to recycle some old quiz questions for a final. How do I let students see past quizzes but not re-take them?
Robert, to add to the information Steve provided, it's a common misconception that quiz due and until dates in Canvas have something to do with students ability to view their quiz results (questions, answer options, the student's answer, which answers are correct/incorrect, and student feedback).
In all actuality it's the different quiz options that allow/don't allow access to this information; see screenshot below. Even if the quiz due or until date has passed students will still be able to see quiz information based on the options set for that quiz. For more information on this check out this document - Quiz Settings to Maximize Security or webinar - Feel Secure about Your Relationship with Quizzes. Hope this helps!
Just to clarify - have all of the students taken the past quiz and you want them to see the questions with their own original attempts and the scores they got?
If you edit the old quiz so that the "available until" date is in the past, students who have taken it already will be able to review their previous submission but will be told that the quiz is closed for further attempts. However, if a student didn't take the quiz the first time around then there will be nothing for them to review so they will just be told that it's closed.
Thank you. This helps. RB
Awesome! Glad we could help!
