Hello, We have several courses that have around 100 pages. When going to Pages, it only loads the first 30 or so entries and you have to scroll to the bottom to get more to load (I then see the "Loading More" message). Once another group of entries loads, you are taken back up to the top of the window. You then have to scroll back down to get another set to load. If you are trying to get to a page entry that is late in the alphabet, you could have to do this 4 or 5 times before you get to the entry you are looking for. I find this very annoying and I have a few Instructors that do as well.
First of all, does this happen to everyone else, and what is the purpose of this behavior?
Secondly, is there a way around this?
Thank you for the help!
Cory
Cory, I checked this in a course with well over 100 pages and was able to replicate exactly what you are seeing. I also played around with it and tried to see if I could make it go faster/easier and nothing seemed to work other than scrolling super slowly through the list, but even then it took me back to the top before I actually got to the bottom of my list. I checked with a course that has around 50 pages (give or take) and it was fine and didn't have the problem.
My only guess as to why this is happening is that it has to do with being able to load the page quickly for the majority of users (who don't have 100+ pages in their course). You could also try checking with your CSM and see if they have any idea why the page loads like this.
As for a workaround, it's not perfect, but James Jones wrote some code (as a work around for a different large number of pages issue) that would allow Instructors to create a list (outside of Canvas) with their course page names and hyperlinks to the pages Re: Why don't all my Pages show up in the Insert Content > Links Wiki Pages list?
Hope this helps!
