Is it possible to see how many hits or views a specific Page in a course has?
I was just testing out this Free Webpage Counter and it works quite nicely in Canvas as long as you don't mind it being visible. If you need it to be invisible, you'll need to sign up for a free account and use something like StatCounter . We have used Google Analytics in the past, but it does not count any page views using the mobile Apps, just Web Browsers.
Here's a test page inside one of my Canvas courses you can view as a working example.
Does this help
While I can't give specific instructions on how to do either, two solutions come to mind.
1) Use Canvas Data . This is probably easiest to set up and will work even on non-public courses
2) Set up Google Analytics tracking on the course or page. This will only work for public courses but will tell you a lot more than hits.
Cory, while I'll happily defer to some brilliant admin who has figured out a way to do this, I don't believe this is possible as Canvas is currently designed (that is, not without diving into Canvas Data, as Adam Williams has suggested). I'd refer you to the discussions surrounding these related feature ideas: See which students have viewed a particular page or activity and when and Improve "Page Views" UI . I know these feature ideas aren't exactly what you're asking for, which is a view tabulation or "hit" counter for a particular page, but the discussions under the feature ideas touch upon the need to measure views per page.
I haven't gone down the road of configuring StatCounter for every page in a course or in our instance, but I suspect you will have to modify some code to do it. If you get this working, please share your results with the community. I'm sure others would be interested in learning more about this.
