If I create an assignment that has an embedded video is there a way to confirm people have watched it? I need to base the completion of the assignment on the completion of the video.
Wayne, unfortunately there is pretty much no way (ever) to 100% confirm that people have watched something. Even if it is required for someone to click on the video, open it, and stay on the page until the video is done, you can't guarantee that the person actually watched the video. The best you can do is make sure your Assignment addresses things that the student could only answer if they watched the full video.
Yet, if you really really need to show that the students at least accessed/clicked on the video you could add it as it's own link in a Module and make it a prerequisite for the student to have clicked on it before they can access/take the Assignment for the video. There's no way to know that they actually watched it, but at least you would have proof that they clicked on it. Here are two links that better explain how this works - How do I add prerequisites to a module? & How do I add requirements to a module?
Hope this helps!
