Integrating simulation and virtual learning activities with an LMS

Discussion created by carrie@instructure.com Employee on Jan 25, 2016

Hello!

I learned recently that Medbiquitous has a working group dedicated to improving how medical training systems interact via xAPI.

According to its webpage, the group's mission is: "to develop a set of xAPI profiles to provide guidance around specific types of activities, including simulations (virtual patients, mannekin-based simulations, preceptor-reviewed simulations, virtual worlds/games, standardized patients, etc) and clinical training activities/experiences. (see more: Learning Experience | MedBiquitous Consortium )

I am curious: Do you see a need for integrating these types of simulation learning activities with your LMS? How would you envision that working? What are the opportunities/risks? Do existing systems outside the LMS give you enough, or, what's missing from existing systems?

Cheers,

Carrie
