making midterm with multiple versions a prerequisite for releasing next module

I'm working on a course where one of the modules starts with the midterm exam. When students submit their midterm exam, the rest of the module is released.

There are three versions of the exam, and each student is assigned to only one version.

In order to do this, we actually divided the module into two modules (5a and 5b), both set to unlock on the same date. There's Module 5a, containing an intro and then Midterm A (assigned to a few students individually), Midterm B (same) and Midterm C (same). Within the module settings, I have set it so that students are required to complete one of these:

Then I have Module 5a set as a prerequisite for 5b, the other half of the module, so students can continue as soon as they submit their midterm.

Will this setup work? Is there a better way to do this?
