I didn't realize pulling in the LTI would open up the options in Collaborations - very helpful. Thank you!
Having those other items at your disposal is nice, and I especially like having access to the Sheets. Consider also taking a Sheet or Sheets that are being used for Collaborations and embed those items in Content Pages or even Discussions. Doing so gives students an opportunity to edit the Sheets in Canvas while also allowing other students to see work in progress by other students.
I look forward to using collaborative Sheets and Slides in addition to Google Docs! What I learned through this video and tried out today is at: Trying out the Google Apps LTI
Although new Collaborations create blank documents, spreadsheets and presentations, we can replace them with templates for students (if we want) within Google Drive.
This series is very helpful to get tips & strategies to use Google Apps with Canvas - something we will begin to do in 2017-2018. It's good to know that I can refer back to these when I need to.
Would like to be able to use a prepared template for Collaborations - hope that happens in the future.
Be sure to watch the entire GOOGLE LTI series, hosted by Canvas Trainer Nicholas Demas.

Thank you Biray and Nicholas for your presentation. I am exploring this feature for our school. We have had it available for some time but have been puzzled by its usefulness.
When I create a Docs collaboration and add three students to that collaboration instance, the document is created; however, it is not shared with those students. If I have to manually setup the sharing permissions, then I may as well use Google Drive (as we do now).
Do you think there is something wrong with our setup?
Hi Debra Bourne. I wonder if the issue you encountered is related to the difference between the Google Drive LTI integration and the Google Docs web services. And it might be that students have yet to connect (or have disconnected) their Google accounts. Both tools can be used with Collaborations.
