I have Flipgrid integrated into Canvas. But for each assignment, 2-5 student videos do NOT show up in speedgrader or on the Grades page showing something is submitted. However their videos are on the actual grid. Does anyone know why this is happening?
Multiple faculty at my college are reporting the same issue. LTI integration of Canvas with some students syncing to gradebook and some not. Flipgrid course link is DISABLED. No reason why it shouldn't be working. They have also reached out to Flipgrid and not heard back. Have you found any solutions?
@lori_zaremba One common issue is students going directly to Flipgrid to record their responses instead of clicking through on the Canvas assignment. When students go directly to Flipgrid, the student's submission will appear on the grid, but Canvas does not get notified that the assignment has been completed. There is no way to link the video to the assignment once it has been submitted in this fashion (except perhaps for the student downloading their video and uploading it as a video clip once they access the assignment correctly, which is a hypothesis that I have not yet tested), so the student will have to go back to the Canvas assignment and rerecord their submission.
The best solution to this problem is to hide the Flipgrid link from the Canvas sidebar and to instruct your students to go through the Canvas assignment every time they need to record.
This Flipgrid troubleshooting FAQ has some helpful -- or at least interesting -- information: https://help.flipgrid.com/hc/en-us/articles/360055359133
Incidentally, I find this statement in the FAQ deeply frustrating: "If NONE of your students' videos appear in SpeedGrader: Something went wrong with the LTI installation. It's difficult to determine what specifically, so we recommend deleting the integration and starting from scratch - please see Canvas LTI Integration - Uninstall." In my case, the videos have stopped appearing in SpeedGrader after I had been using it successfully for several weeks. Hope they'll find a better solution to this issue; it sounds like it's fairly common.
I am experiencing the same thing in my class. I have one student who went to FlipGrid directly the first time and accidentally submitted under a future topic. He deleted it, but now none of his subsequent submissions (navigated to correctly from the Canvas page) come into the Gradebook or to Speedgrader, and also the requirement for submission is not met (and so he cannot complete the module). I have other students who's submissions show up in the gradebook, but not in the Speedgrader. Still others seem to have had their submissions pre-graded while most have not. The whole FlipGrid interface with Canvas seems very buggy. Any tips on how to reset the integration with the course?
@iullah What was your work around for this?
I'm having the same issue this quarter. Most student videos on FlipGrid show up in the Canvas SpeedGrader, but 3-5 student videos show up on FlipGrid page, but not as a submission on Canvas. Not sure why the integration is inconsistent.
@rnewton5 What was your work around for this?
@amorrisoI didn't have a good work around. I went to FlipGrid page to check on each submission and then manually entered grades on Canvas SpeedGrader for any that didn't come through.
Have there been any solutions to this issue? It has emerged as a problem for me in the past week after working almost flawlessly earlier this fall. For me, at least, it's not a problem of students going directly to Flipgrid instead of through the Canvas assignment, as we had already addressed that issue. Help!
This is exactly the same problem I have. Videos show up on the Canvas assignment page, but there is no name associated with the submission as there is with other students. The submission does not register on speedgrader or the gradebook. The student has to log into Canvas to access the assignment, so why Canvas and Flipgrid don't connect the submission to her (or anyone at all) doesn't make sense.
Has anyone found that it is connected with a specific browser or the Canvas app?
Hi There.
I have a faculty member reporting the exact same issue in all of his classes and the Flipgrid course navigation is disabled. I'm wondering if it is device-specific or if there is some way students are accessing through Flipgrid instead of Canvas that we can't figure out!
I have three different courses linked to Flip. In any of these courses the videos appear in the Speed grader of Canvas. I deleted it two times thinking I did something wrong, but I realized it was not my problem. Since Flipgrip changed to Flip, the issues started. Somebody knows if there is a solution for this situation?
