[ARCHIVED] How do I automatically remind the students 1 day before the start date?

Hi,

This seems like a really basic issue but I can't figure it out.

Example. 

We only have online lessons.

Course A has a start date 2 weeks from now.

The course and Module 1 are published with introductory text so students are not faced with an empty Canvas.

43 students are enrolled via API 9 days before the course start date (any number of students and days)

They complete their enrollment, have a look around and then exit Canvas as there is nothing more to see until the course starts.

The day before the course start date I would like to remind the enrolled students that they should log into Canvas tomorrow as the course is starting.

How do I automatically remind the students 1 day before the start date?

Hi Tim,

I think the best way to make this happen is to either schedule an #announcement to post one day prior to the class starting and by having the announcement post it should trigger an email to be sent to the student as long as the student hasn't disabled #notification‌s. 

The second way you can do this is to message the entire class via the #canvas inbox message‌ and again as long as the student hasn't disabled their notifications for messages they will get an email sent to them as well.

Announcements seem like the way to go. 

Unfortunately, there is no way to schedule this via API. It will mean admin will have to remember to add this scheduled announcement manually.

Not quite automatic.
