It appears that people with "teacher" status in canvas can't be assigned to groups. Do you know of a workaround for this? We are using canvas as a central place for a project and gave everyone teacher status so they could create pages and more... any help is appreciated.
I suppose my worst case solution is that I turn everyone into students?
Thanks!
Gary
Hello @ggraves1 , we do put all our teachers in courses where they need to be in groups as students. They are then able to create pages within the group. We also have setup some template pages and then switched them at the very bottom to allow students to edit those pages.
One time we also added the teachers as students and teacher (using two different sections) . This seemed to work well too.
Hope that helps!

@nwilson7 , can you say more about this? Why did you enroll them in different sections? What happened with that?
Also, @ggraves1 , it IS possible for students to edit pages in the main part of the course (outside of groups), if that's something you want them to do. You just have to turn on that setting to allow them to edit.
Thanks. I was trying to find a way to let the teachers into the groups. I don't think people want two different accesses. Sounds like the best strategy if we want to use group is to change their status to students, then in groups, they can create anything...
Just to clarify my statement, they did not have two different accounts or anything, they just had two different roles within the group and the Canvas system just let them have both student and teacher rights. Sounds like you have a solution though that seems like it will work!
We did the different sections so that they could be enrolled as a student in one and a teacher in the other. This allowed us to put them in groups for their student version and they were teachers to have rights to create everything else. It started as a mistake where I was moving someone from a teacher to a student to put them in the group but somehow did not get them removed correctly so they were both. I then realized that this was a gift in disguise.
