I am grading student submissions, and for some of them, I would like to allow students to read my comments and revise their submissions. However, I cannot figure out how to allow students to do this. Is there a setting that I have to change?
Thank you.

Hi @cally_trosclair
Students can submit, resubmit, and resubmit again and again and again to an assignment.
Once a student does resubmit, they are not longer able to view previous submission, but you as a teacher can using the submission drop-down in SpeedGrader. This is very handy for assignments as you have described. I know of teachers who use it for three or more stages of essay writing (outline, draft, final etc.), and who use grading rubrics with criterion sections for each stage.
You can learn more about viewing prior submissions to the same assignment at:https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13088-415255024
You can control when you want to stop them from submitting again using the available until date. So as long as you have the assignment available to the students, they can continue to submit.
I hope this helps,
Kelley

I do not think this really answers the original question. Why are there no functions like those that exist for Google Assignment LTI. Where students can unsubmit, edit the exact same document, and turn it in again to be regraded.
They shouldn't have to start from scratch, and I don't want to do a file upload because I want to use the annotation tools that are built into Canvas. I don't have a program for students to annotate outside of it, and I like using all one program.
Hello, I was just searching for this topic and this thread came up. However, I don't feel this issue is solved as there isn't a way for students to go in and revise their work -- just start again and resubmit. Right? I'm talking specifically about a writing assignment where just little things here or there need to be changed. Is there a way for students to access their prior submission and revise that and resubmit?
I would also like to be able to do this with my students.
With the Google LTI tool, the teacher can open the assignment and click "Return." This allows the student to make edits and corrections and then resubmit. I wish students could do this on their own before the due date.
I also want my students to be able to edit their submissions. In particular, I want them to add to their latest todo list for their projects. Like, I want them to add more tasks to the end of their lists as they progress. And no, I do not want some web-based checklist, I just want a text field that they can submit and then come back and edit.
