SpeedGrader "cannot find any students" error

Can anyone else solve this?

I have 4 sections crosslisted into another section (bc that's how my K12 District said to do it). When I try to use SpeedGrader on a quiz, I can ONLY see students in the parent section. When I try to change it to another section, I get an error that says "Could not find any students in that section, falling back to showing all sections" and it kicks me back to the parent section.

This does NOT happen when I speed-grade assignments, just the quiz. I need to grade 150 more of these, but can't access them. I've tried getting at them from the gradebook as well, but the same thing keeps happening. What gives?

I have the same issue only with a discussion board. I hope someone can help solve this.

Try going to your Settings on the lower left-hand side of your Canvas Course.

Go to Course Details

Make sure this button is disabled:

Large Course:

 Launch SpeedGrader Filtered by Student Group

While unchecking the button in Settings resolves the error message, it doesn't fix whatever the underlying issue is.   i want to be able to use the filtered Speed Grader, but it's not clear what I've got selected or not selected that is triggering the "not students found" error message that OP reported.

Same here, I want to filter by class.  

Using this solution solves only part of the problem.

There's still no proper solution for this and it's still an occurring problem 😞

Looking into this situation, it sounds like the setting is checked to load students filtered by student groups in Speedgrader. When this happens Speedgrader loads the students in groups. We need to select the group before clicking to Load Speedgrader.

If this does not show the students, we need to make sure they are assigned to the correct groups, and assigned to the assignment as well.

What could potentially happen in this case, is that the students are unassigned from the assignment. If you are trying to load students that are not assigned to the assignment, that will cause that message to show

If you are seeing this, try editing your assignment, and making sure the assignment is set to be assigned to Everyone in the Assign To box. Once you make sure its assigned to Everyone, try clicking back to Speedgrader.

The students are in their proper groups. I am unable to view ANY of the 20+ group's assignments, and my fellow TAs have not encountered this problem. My students are all in the correct groups and have been assigned to the assignment.
